Life of a College Student

Since I've started college I haven't had anytime to do anything else. I'm only taking three classes Math 156, History 201, and Japanese 101. Math is probably the easiest subject for me. I've always had a hard time remembering stuff I've read in History and Science so History has been a challenge. Japanese is really different from English so it's taking a while to figure out how their language works.
Today I have a piano lesson and orchestra practice. Unfortunately, that means that I probably won't have much time to do my homework. I guess I'll just do my best and hope that God helps me.
I'm going back to homework......................

College

I'm sorry to my readers... I haven't posted in awhile. I started college last week and haven't had anytime to do anything but homework, eat, and sleep. Also, my internet connection is down...
This weekend, Ri and I had our B-Day party... It was a sleepover and we went out to a movie (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory). The movie was actually pretty good, it was much better than the old one in my opinion.
Unfortunately for our guests, someone was sick... About half of the girls who came were sick the next day. Rabenstrange got sick too. (Ooops!)
I got lotsa cool presents: CDs, a Gucci purse, guitar tab books, Switchfoot t-shirt, some new clothing, etc.
I gotta go!

Old Peoples and Retirement Communities

Today I went to church, the usual for Sundays. We only went to second service though. We usually go to first and second service. After church, my sister, Brad, and I practiced some songs together to play at a retirement community. After our practice session, we went to Lakeshore Retirement Home and played a worship set for their protestant church service.
It's kinda funny though cause after we played worship, Evan preached a sermon. Evan's sermons are kinda funny to listen to... He gets off subject alot and talks about random things in the middle of the sermon. Anyways, Brad almost fell asleep in the middle of the sermon. Some of the elderly people did too. I don't blame them, I have to admit I almost did. After the sermon, all the elderly people come and tell us how well we play our instruments and thank us for coming. It's great to see how we can add a little happiness to their day. Next month Ri and I think that we should bring them cookies or something when we come to do the worship set. Old peoples are so nice.
Now that I talked about how they are now, here's a disturbing thought. Think of what our generation of grandparents are going to be like... Instead of going to grandma's house and having cookies they'll go have a Rockstar or an Amp and listen to rap. Pretty scarey if you ask me...

DR. SEUSS

So far, nothing interesting has happened today and nothing interesting is planned... So instead of typing about me I've decided to devote this entry to the best author ever, Doctor Seuss... he comes up with the best words ever I mean the word "thars" for instance, It's so flippin cool. As Rabenstrange says, it should be a word in the English language. He has awesome sayings also... "From there to here from here to there funny things are everywhere" It's soo true, like can be a comedy if you let it. Apparently he had some pretty good vews also "A person's a person no matter how small", can anyone say prolife!?! If your parents never read Docotor Seuss books to you as a child you've been deprived. You should read some!!! Try reading Fox in Sox without messing up any of the words, it's harder than you think.

All About Dr. Seuss
"OH, THE PLACES YOU'LL GO! THERE IS FUN TO BE DONE! THERE AREPOINTS TO BE SCORED. THERE ARE GAMES TO BE WON."From: Oh, The Places You'll Go!
Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known to the world as the beloved Dr. Seuss, was born in 1904 on Howard Street in Springfield, Massachusetts. Ted's father, Theodor Robert, and grandfather were brewmasters in the city. His mother, Henrietta Seuss Geisel, often soothed her children to sleep by "chanting" rhymes remembered from her youth. Ted credited his mother with both his ability and desire to create the rhymes for which he became so well known. Although the Geisels enjoyed great financial success for many years, the onset of World War I and Prohibition presented both financial and social challenges for the German immigrants. Nonetheless, the family persevered and again prospered, providing Ted and his sister, Marnie, with happy childhoods. The influence of Ted's memories of Springfield can be seen throughout his work. Drawings of Horton the Elephant meandering along streams in the Jungle of Nool, for example, mirror the watercourses in Springfield's Forest Park from the period. The fanciful truck driven by Sylvester McMonkey McBean in The Sneetches could well be the Knox tractor that young Ted saw on the streets of Springfield. In addition to its name, Ted's first children's book, And To Think That I Saw It On Mulberry Street, is filled with Springfield imagery, including a look-alike of Mayor Fordis Parker on the reviewing stand, and police officers riding red motorcycles, the traditional color of Springfield's famed Indian Motocycles.Ted left Springfield as a teenager to attend Dartmouth College, where he became editor-in-chief of the Jack-O-Lantern, Dartmouth's humor magazine. Although his tenure as editor ended prematurely when Ted and his friends were caught throwing a drinking party, which was against the prohibition laws and school policy, he continued to contribute to the magazine, signing his work "Seuss." This is the first record of the "Seuss" pseudonym, which was both Ted's middle name and his mother's maiden name. To please his father, who wanted him to be a college professor, Ted went on to Oxford University in England after graduation. However, his academic studies bored him, and he decided to tour Europe instead. Oxford did provide him the opportunity to meet a classmate, Helen Palmer, who not only became his first wife, but also a children's author and book editor. After returning to the United States, Ted began to pursue a career as a cartoonist. The Saturday Evening Post and other publications published some of his early pieces, but the bulk of Ted's activity during his early career was devoted to creating advertising campaigns for Standard Oil, which he did for more than 15 years. As World War II approached, Ted's focus shifted, and he began contributing weekly political cartoons to PM magazine, a liberal publication. Too old for the draft, but wanting to contribute to the war effort, Ted served with Frank Capra's Signal Corps (U.S. Army) making training movies. It was here that he was introduced to the art of animation and developed a series of animated training films featuring a trainee called Private Snafu. While Ted was continuing to contribute to Life, Vanity Fair, Judge and other magazines, Viking Press offered him a contract to illustrate a collection of children's sayings called Boners. Although the book was not a commercial success, the illustrations received great reviews, providing Ted with his first "big break" into children's literature. Getting the first book that he both wrote and illustrated, And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street, published, however, required a great degree of persistence - it was rejected 27 times before being published by Vanguard Press. The Cat in the Hat, perhaps the defining book of Ted's career, developed as part of a unique joint venture between Houghton Mifflin (Vanguard Press) and Random House. Houghton Mifflin asked Ted to write and illustrate a children's primer using only 225 "new-reader" vocabulary words. Because he was under contract to Random House, Random House obtained the trade publication rights, and Houghton Mifflin kept the school rights. With the release of The Cat in the Hat, Ted became the definitive children's book author and illustrator. After Ted's first wife died in 1967, Ted married an old friend, Audrey Stone Geisel, who not only influenced his later books, but now guards his legacy as the president of Dr. Seuss Enterprises. At the time of his death on September 24, 1991, Ted had written and illustrated 44 children's books, including such all-time favorites as Green Eggs and Ham, Oh, the Places You'll Go, Fox in Socks, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas. His books had been translated into more than 15 languages. Over 200 million copies had found their way into homes and hearts around the world.Besides the books, his works have provided the source for eleven children's television specials, a Broadway musical and a feature-length motion picture. Other major motion pictures are on the way.His honors included two Academy awards, two Emmy awards, a Peabody award and the Pulitzer Prize.

It's Friday!

Okay, I know, the tital is stupid. But Friday's are my favorite day of the week. They mark the beginning of the weekend. Unfortunately, Ri is ditching me and going to the Family Fun Center this weekend. I was hoping to do something fun, but I'm not sure what I'm going to do now...
I haven't really done anything all that interesting today. I got up, took a shower, ate breakfast, and read my Bible. As I said, nothing all that interesting.
I'm excited to be going home this evening. I miss Ri sooo much. When we're both home we're inseperable. Which is going to make it hard on us when I start college in a couple weeks. She's hoping that my mom will let her come to college with me on my birthday. That'd be kool.
Sudden thought... ...Switchfoot's new CD comes out it 4 DAYS!!!!!! Okay, I know I'm really excited about it. But they're the best! My CD is pre-ordered and I'm hoping that it'll come on the 13th when it's released...

untitled

Today I'm babysitting, the usual. For some odd reason my cousin doesn't want to take her nap. Normally she would want to take her nap. Oh well, it doesn't really matter that much. This is actually the last time I'll be watching her since I start college in two weeks.
It gets kinda lonely here though. At home, Ri and I hang out all the time and do stuff. (listen to books on CDs, draw, chat, listen to music, make food, etc.) Here the only one other than me is Alicia and she is only one. After lunch, I put on her swimsuit and let her swim in her wading pool. She loved it... After that we went on a walk around the area. Everyone comments on how cute she is. For once, someone actually asked me if I was babysitting. Usually I just get nasty looks from people (they most likely think that she is my daughter).
Since I don't really have anything interesting to post, I'll stop typing now...........

Just Another Day in the Life

I got up at seven again! Yeah! It's soo hard getting up after sleeping in almost everyday this summer. Today I'll be starting up piano again for the fall (I've already played for ten years). So far I've picked out "All I Ask of You" (from the Phantom of the Operah), a Russian Sonatina, and the Maple Leaf Rag. I still need to pick out four more pieces to complete my national guild program for this spring. I'll be playing seven songs and three phases for a total of ten pieces.
After piano lessons, I have to go to some kind of highschool orientation. It doesn't make any sense to me why since I'm not going to that place anyhow. I'll be going to BCC so why should I go to an orientation at the HRC? (the homeschool resource center) I've only taken a few classes there in my life and that was several years ago. My mom said that my highschool counselor wants me to go. My sister really wants to go for some reason, she thinks that it's funny that I'm having to go against my will. She knows how eager I am to go to college instead of that place every week.

No School

My younger sibs started school today. It feels so wierd not starting up homeschooling with them. College doesn't start for another two weeks. I decided to get back on a schedual though so that I'll be used to it by the time college starts. I actually got up at seven today! Then I had breakfast, read my Bible, and practiced piano. It felt good to actually accomplish something after a summer of doing nothin.

Labor Day Eve

So since it's Sunday we went to church, like we always do... Ri and I sat next to each other in service and I have to admit we talked a little. Oh well, if we're honest most people do occassionally. Tonight Leann is gonna come over a sleepover. Tomarrow we're going to Enchanted Village to ride the rides. It'll be fun. Leann and possibly Haley are going with us. Oh, I forgot, Ri and I handed out the invites to our party today. So far, everybody who's said if they were coming said yes. OHhhhh Right! If everyone can make it there'll be over ten girls coming plus relatives.
Yesterday night we watched Benny and Joon. It's pretty funny but there is some questionable content in it. Other than those scenes I loved it. Jonny Depp looks sooooo much younger in it. It's kinda strange though cause it's a love story about two mentally unstable people. (strange if you ask me, as my dad said you wouldn't want to know what their children would be like) Joon is funny cause she's always lighting random stuff on fire and causing caos. Sam (Depp) is in love with her but he's a little mental also. If you haven't seen it it's worth seeing (just skip that scene).

Johnny Depp and Mary Stuart Masterson star in this quirky romantic drama about two misfits who come together as a result of an unusual poker game. Aidan Quinn and Julianne Moore co-star. Theatrical Release Date: Apr 16, 1993MPAA Rating: PG Rating Comment: Rated PG for theme, a scene of mild sensuality and one use of harsh language.

Ri's B-Day

Hey peoples! It's Arita's birthday today! We (our family) made her breakfast in bed this morning as is the custom around here on peoples birthdays. We made her strawberry crepes, that's her favorite. For presents, she received a backpack (from our parents), a t-shirt (from Rabenstrange), a CD (from me), a Jamba Juice gift card (from Mason), hairends (from Zach), and a Northwest College t-shirt (from Evan). Now, she and my mom are out shopping and having lunch together.Later, tonight, I'll be making her dinner and dessert.

The ENd of SEarching

Too bad, I ended up giving up looking for that special something cause I looked everywhere I could think of and couldn't find it. Well, on the good side I finally bought Arita a birthday present! Unfortunately it isn't what I looked everywhere for... Well Arita, if you're reading this and are still trying to figure out what I got you, you're never going to guess. It isn't what I was looking for yesterday. (just a hint)
Other than that I haven't done a whole lot the last couple days. Yesterday my mom went to a group thingy with some other moms and my dad worked so I ended up having to babysit. Right now, my parents are having lunch together so , you guessed it I'm babysitting. And tonight my parents are going to a wedding so well ..... you get the idea. Yesterday I practiced my turns on my blades in our driveway. I ended up falling once (I hardly ever fall) and lucky for me I didn't rip my pants like the last two times I've fallen... I wasn't wearing my trash pants (my pants that I don't care about) either. I'm so glad I didn't rip them. All I ended up with was a nasty looking gauge on one of my knuckles...

Searching...

Today I went shopping for Ri's birthday present. And yeah, I know, Ri's probably read this. I don't really care... Anyways, I went looking for a certain something but never found it. It was quite a bummer especially cause of some of the stores I ended up looking in. (Mason was with me and some of the stuff in the stores was so nasty that I ended up covering his eyes and leading him out of the store) So I never found it and I ended up disgracing myself.... Oh well, I'll probably just get her somethin else.
