dup-dakes

I have a little sister who is three. She has a speech problem and doesn't pronounce all of her letters properly. its no surprise that she does, when I was little, I had speech therapy because my older brother Rabenstrange and my mom were the only people who could understand what I said. Anyways, yesterday Maddie was working on a preschool workbook page. When she finished, she proudly showed her work to our mom. It was one of those pages where theres a picture of an object and a blank line next to it to write the first letter of the word. As my mom looked over the page, Maddie had done all of them right except for one. This one was a picture of a cupcake. Next to the picture, Maddie had written a D. We found out that since she can't pronounce Cs, she replaces them with Ds. Since she says Dupdake instead of cupcake, to her it only made sense to write a d. Well, thats my adorable little sister.

Dinner at the Space Needle

Last night, my parents took me out to dinner at the Space Needle. It was my belated graduation dinner, and it was really good. Our reservations were at 7:15. I had jidori chicken, garlic mashed potatoes, steamed vegetables, a peach cream smoothie, and chocolate fudge cake for dessert. It was delicious. My mom ordered a halibut dish with mango salsa which was actually tastier than my chicken, but it was all quite good.
After dinner, we walked around the observation deck for a long time. The view from the Space Needle is so pretty! I have been to the Space Needle several times before (not for dinner though) but I guess I never really enjoyed the beauty of the view. When the sun went down, we looked over the lights of Seattle. It was so beautiful.
This afternoon, I went to the library and got some new books to review. I read one this afternoon. It was called Anything but Ordinary. I enjoyed it, I couldn't put it down. It's about a girl and a boy who meet in 8th grade and totally love each other. They're geeks and the only friends that each other have. Then, the girl moves off to college and becomes a flaky wannabe popular girl. Meanwhile, the guy is totally broken up because he misses her so he decides to fly to the college and surprise her. Well, I'm not going to give away the rest, so read the book!
Next month, two must hear CDs are coming out. The Rocket Summer is releasing his first album on a major label, it is called Do You Feel. He has a fun pop-rock sound. Check it out at www.therocketsummer.com. The other album is Secret Weapon by MxPx. I've previewed a couple songs off this album and they rock crazy good. Secret Weapon releases on July 17th.

Time Passes Too Fast

This summer has been a blur so far... I haven't done anything out of the ordinary really. I've been swimming alot, reading, playing guitar, practicing piano, and listening to music. Oh yeah, and watching The Office.
This weekend, I went hiking with my brother and Justin. We hiked Mt. Sai which is 4 miles to the top. Its really steap. I felt awesome when I got home after climbing but the next day I was crazy sore. I wasn't expecting that at all.
A couple days ago, my brother and I heard gun shots outside my window. After the drive-by shooting last week, we were a little freaked out. Matt called the cops, they never showed. STUPID, LAZY, cops. They never do anything around here.
This afternoon, I weeded my mom's gardens for her. Well, some of them, I weeded her 12 rose bushes, her blueberry garden, and the garden along the path to our house. Sometimes I like gardening, but I wasn't in the mood this morning. I listened to a recording of Pride and Prejudice while I worked. Pride and Prejudice is my favorite book/movie... I read the book a couple months ago and now I'm listening to it with an mp3 file on my ipod.

Well, I'm off to wash the dishes,
Till next time, Dewa!

Summer Break

I've been enjoying my summer vacation. My mom doesn't want to work on driving with me for a week, so I'm pretty much being forced to relax. :) Tonight, I'm at Friends Club hanging out with my junior higher friends. We're having our end of the year party tonight.
This afternoon, I put some music videos on my ipod. It's fun stuff... Any suggestions? Please post!

ahhh, I can Breathe!

Wow, its the first school day that I don't have school. It feels really good, a little awkward, but good none the less. My graduation party on Saturday went really well. My relatives came over from 2-6:00, my friends hung out longer... We played Cranium and Catch Phrase. We had alot of fun.
My ipod came today :) It's nice to have an mp3 player that works with my new comp... I was irritated when I found out that my other one wouldn't... Well, there's not a whole ton to say. I've mostly been relaxing.

Group Project

I did my presentation for the group project I had in Sociology this morning... It went fairly well, our group ended up getting an A on the presentation. Tonight, I'll finish up the paper which is due tomorrow. Hopefully we'll do well on that also. Tomorrow, I have my sociology final. After I'm done with that, no worries! The rest is smooth sailing. On Friday I have a Rock History Final and my Theory take-home is due. I really should start writing that string quartet.
Other than that... Let's see, I got an ipod. It is a black 30GB video ipod. I got it for $200 off since I bought my lappy. Supposedly it will be here by Friday, we'll see...

One down, Three to go

This evening I did my first final. It was just my guitar final, so it was really easy. Pretty much, my class played for an open-mic thingy at the Stop-Gap Theatre. We did okay, but not spectacular or amazing. The accoustics were aweful and we had a horrible time hearing each other, so it definately could have gone more smoothly.
My other finals are on Wednesday and Friday mornings. For theory class, I'll be given a take-home on Tues. and then I also have a string-quartet composition due as part of that final. Then, on Friday, I have a Rock History final, which is a paper (that I've already written), some musical listening examples (this time its punk, hip-hop, & art rock), and a few multiple choice questions. Then, my hardest final is Wednesday, and that would be my sociology final. It is 2 hours long, and we're actually expected to stay for the entire 2 hours. I'm irritated about that! Then, I'll be free! :P I'm really looking forward to gratuating.
This afternoon, I picked up a finale songwriter at Fry's Electronics and set it up on my mac. I've put in most of my opus No. 1. Maybe if I can figure out how to post it, I will.... I'm not so great with comps yet.
well its uber late so I'm off to bed. Night y'all!

I Love Wireless!

I'm in love with my wireless internet. I'm sitting here, waiting for my carpool buddy to get her boyfriend and I have wireless Yippee! I couldn't resist posting while I waited.
The last couple days, I've been working on a sociology group project. My group is doing our project on folk/country/rock music. So far its been fun but we're not done yet. Well looks like we're about to go. I'll post more later.

New Comp & Books

My mac-book came yesterday while I was at school. Needless to say, I had a hard time concentrating on my lab work. Oh, well... So for you mac haters, they're not bad, just different. I've only had mine for less that 24 hours and I've got it mostly figured out.
I got a new shipment of books from the library :). 5 more! I don't think I'll read much though until I finish finals.

Wow Life's Been Busy!

It's hard to believe that its already been like a week since I last posted. My sincere apologies... I've been quite busy with school.

Last week I purchased my first computer (well the first decent computer that I'll ever have owned since my current comp has been passed down through a few people) I bought an Apple Mac-Book with a 200 GB hard-drive. It'll will arrive on either Wednesday or Thursday. I'm so excited. Today I'm gonna go by Fry's on the way home from school to pick up a sleeve for it and possibly a composition program if they're not too much.
